Walter P. Sowers, II

Walt, a native of Bluefield, Virginia, graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1995. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in 1992. Walt's practice is focused in the areas of healthcare, employment, and compliance matters, including HIPAA, Stark, Anti-Kickback, EMTALA, and JCAHO. He has worked closely with senior management, compliance officers, practice managers, and physician owners on operational, contract, reimbursement and liability issues. In 2004, he was named to Virginia Business Magazine's Legal Elite for Regulatory Practice.

Walt is a member of the American Health Lawyers' Association. He is a past Chair of the Health Law Section for the Virginia State Bar, and serves on the Board of the Virginia Bar Association Health Law Council. In addition, Walt is currently the President of the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Big Brothers Big Sisters.
