Four Justices Express Concern Over Possible Prayer Restrictions on Coach
Supreme Court Justices Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh joined what might be considered a noteworthy "Statement" about a U.S. Ninth Circuit case which was the subject of a request for appeal about a school employee's after-hours or off-campus religious activities. Although joining the rest of the Court members to deny the appeal at this time, the four Justices sent a message to the Ninth Circuit about restrictions on a coach's Free Speech rights: "The suggestion that even while off duty, a teacher or coach cannot engage in any outward manifestation of religious faith is remarkable."
